Hi, friends! Remember me? I know; I've been MIA this week. I have lots of good excuses for my absence though. I've been really, really busy. You know; moving, baby-growing. The usual stuff.
To say we have a lot going on right now would be the understatement of the century. I cannot even begin to describe the logistics and mounting to-do lists. It's pretty intense around here.
This week, we're focused on getting our Knoxville house move-in ready. It's a cute little place, and we know we can make it feel like home. But the reality is, our new abode needs a little TLC. And a lot of
Crud Kutter. And we're on a deadline. A baby-driven deadline. Only six more weeks until Baby Girl makes her debut, and that's
if she decides to stay put until week 40.
(Dear God, please, please, please keep Baby Elena safely inside Mama Collins for six more weeks. Pretty please!)
Am I having panic attacks, you ask?
Yes. Yes, I am.
While I take deep breaths in a paper bag, you should sit back and enjoy a few "before" pictures of our new place, along with very abbreviated to-do lists for each room. If you're even a tiny bit tired after reading this post, multiply that tired feeling by one billion. That's how Jonathan and I feel these days.
Side note: We are so, so, so thankful to have such a great support system. Our family has been at the house every single day, helping us turn our to-do list into a to-done list. We are very grateful for their love and support and their willingness to work their butts off for free. Man, we're lucky to have so many people who love us.
And now for the tour...

SO...As your friend, I must tell you - there is no way that ALL of that MUST get done before Miss Elena makes her debut. Her room, yes. The master, yes. The living room, yes. The kitchen, yes. Cleaning bathrooms, of course. But the office? Not really. The ceilings, not so much. Do I understand your desperate desire to have ALL of it done? ABSOLUTELY! That is my #1 personality challenge. But since I am not personally involved in this house move/reno, I can objectively tell you that you are just experiencing a severe case of nesting :) You will be sequestered to the master bedroom and living room mostly for the first few weeks, and there WILL be down time to accomplish more tasks in a couple weeks. In fact, even though NO ONE discusses it, there might even be times when you are actually wanting something to do! I promise everything will fall into place. The MOST IMPORTANT thing is to take it easy right now. I know, I know- you're getting sick of everyone saying that, but it is terrible when you enter into motherhood already desperate for sleep. Trust me. I love you, and I know exactly how you feel. I would LOVE to come help you if you need anything! And I forgot to ask you last week - do you still want that bassinet? It's ready to go for you, but I know you got the pack n' play you wanted, so I don't know. Anyways, just let me know! Love ya!
Oh, and congrats on the new place! It is gonna be SOOOO great! Can't believe THAT'S what you guys got for that price! SWEEEEET!
AND...she's gonna NEED two closets :)
I'm not sure that I know this Kelly Bennett person (I have probably met her before), but she seems smart. Take it easy Mellie! None of your readers want you or your baby getting sick b/c of stress. Love you and miss you!
I was coming on here to post and then I ready Kelly's comment. And there is nothing left for me to say. I knew I loved Kelly! You will want to enjoy the last few weeks. And sleep and rest when you can. Trust me, no one is going to care about the ceilings. Yes, you want it done so you don't have to worry about it. But, keep that list around. Trust me-I moved into our new house when I was 8 months pregnant with Leyton! Rest, rest, enjoy, enjoy!
The most important thing is that you are going to have a great house to bring baby E home too. You have wonderful family and friends who will be holding her and loving on her all the time. That is what matters! Love you!
how fun!!! i have a thrifty trick for those brass light fixtures, just spray paint them with the "oil rubbed bronze" spray paint (or whatever color you like) and they'll look more like the darker ones you see at lighting stores, that'll help update the room without having to buy new ones immediately... plus, you can add cute shades for a little spunk!!! --its more of a quick fix than a permanant solution, but you just cant do it all at once :) goodluck with everything!!!
it'll be great!!!
